VokalArs, an all-female music group, started its activities at the end of 2004 with the intention of consolidating a professional chamber size choir who would offer unconventional, high quality artistical concerts. It began with the aim of bringing together a group of highly trained professionals sharing a desire to renew musical interpretation.
The unique sonority of a female group of singers has been widely explored throughout the history of music; however, it is not until Romanticism that works are created specifically for female choirs. The goals of VokalArs are:
On the musical side,
- Make music written for female choirs known to the public;
- Promote contemporary music written for and by women and, in particular, that of Spanish production, also in connection with staged performances;
- Maintain a high musical and artistical level in all performances given;
And in regards to its social pursuits,
- Promote women's involvement in art;
- Support women in society throughout all kinds of cultural and social institutions.
Nuria Fernández Herranz conducts VokalArs since its foundation and is the creator of this philosophy and objectives. With over twenty years experience in choral conducting and music of all times, she gathers a very rich scope of resources essential to carry out an ambitious project of this category. |
